This morning’s New York Times carried the following from Newton Leroy Gingrich:
“I think you have to at some point be honest with what’s happening in the real world, as opposed to what you’d like to have happened,” Mr. Gingrich said at a Republican Party event in North Carolina on Wednesday morning. New York Times National Edition 26 April 2012 A14
Let’s “over-read” — that is, take literally — Speaker Gingrich’s words. The erstwhile GOP contender reluctantly concluded that eventually rhetorical worlds must yield to factual reality. Then — and only then, Speaker Gingrich? — presidential aspirants must be honest.
It takes a big man to admit that he has been less than honest until now. Newt Gingrich is a big man.
